Guj Cabinet implements recommendations of 5th Pay Commission
Gandhinagar, July 26 (UNI) Gujarat Cabinet today decided to implement the various recommendations of fifth Pay Commission for different allowances, including Housing Rent Allowance (HRA), by 50 per cent with effect from April-2006.
Gujarat Urban Development Minister I K Jadeja and Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Patel, jointly briefing reporters here said, ''the implementation of these allowances will burden the State Treasury by Rs 280 crore per annum.'' Besides HRA, other allowances like Compensatory Local Allowance, Transfer Grant, Retirement Benefits, GPFund's share, and others will also be given 50 per cent rise, they said.
Earlier, the Gujarat Government had given rise of Dearness Allowance by 50 per cent with effect from April-2005, the duo said.
The Ministers said, the recommendations will benefit to all those employees whose provident fund accounts are under the State Government purview, orders for which have already been issued.
Besides these, the benefits of the revised scale will also be offered to those employees who have retired on or after April-2006.
The arrears of allowances four months, ranging from April-July, 2006, will be paid to all beneficiaries in two equal installments in August and September, 2006, the Ministers added.
