Govt to create NRMA to promote rural micro enterprises
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The Rural Development Ministry has decided to create a National Rural Marketing Agency under the Societies Registration Act as an exclusive agency to promote the rural micro enterprise in the country.
The decision was taken at a meeting held early this month under the chairmanship of the Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
NRMA would undertake all activities to increase and ensure marketability of the products of rural poor producers including marketing of those products in the domestic and international markets.
This agency would also be responsible for management of the entire marketing infrastructure which would be created. It would also undertake all activities to increase and ensure the marketability of the products of rural poor producers including marketing of rural products in the domestic and international markets.
It would also identify market oriented economic opportunities in the rural areas and take all actions to provide their benefits to the rural poor producers including implementation of projects.
NRMA would be responsible for creation, operation and maintenance of marketing infrastructure including haats, complexes, spaces in malls, shops, warehouses, cold storages etc for the benefit of the rural poor.
It would to work for the creation of nation-wide rural marketing facilitation network on partnership model.
The Agency would coordinate with different players both in government, non-government and private sector to achieve the above objective. A special emphasis will have to be given to the public-private partnership.
