First website on Rajiv Gandhi launched
New Delhi, July 26: People can now remember former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with the help of the internet.
A website (www.rememberingrajivgandhi.com) developed by Harish Chander, who had been closely associated with many former Prime Ministers of India, was launched last evening to pay tributes to the late leader.
Minister of State Oscar Fernandes inaugurated the website at a function attended by a galaxy of prominent personalities, including former Election Commissioner G V G Krishnamurthy and former Governor Bhishmanarain Singh.
The website contains 160 photographs, 43 illustrations and 78 chapters on Rajiv Gandhi right from his early life when he was a pilot of the Indian Airlines to the period when he was the country's Prime Minister.
The human facets of Rajiv Gandhi, which was largely unknown to the common people, is also exhibited to the world through the website.
Mr Krishnamurthy and Mr Fernandes, who paid glorious tributes to Rajiv Gandhi, said he was a statesman and a visionary.
