Despite rainfall, sultry weather haunts UP
Lucknow, July 26 (UNI) Even as several Uttar Pradesh districts were lashed by heavy rainfall in the last 24 hrs, sultry weather continued to haunt other places.
Rainfall/thundershowers occured at many places including Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Lucknow and Bareilly divisions, the weatherman said here.
Kakrahi recorded 7 cm rainfall, Jalalabad 7 cm, Bani 6 cm, Lucknow 5 cm, while 4 cm each in Bareilly and Bansi.
Moderate to rather heavy downpour accompanied by squall is likely at many places in the next 24 hrs.
A report from Gorakhpur said high humidity has made life uncomfortable for the people.
Central Water Commission (CWC) said all prominent rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Ken, Gomti, Sharda, Rapti and Gandak were decreasing.
However, Ghagra is flowing just 10 cm below the red mark.
Meanwhile, a report from Sitapur said a large number of houses were washed away in Setuhi village following land erosion in Sharda.
