CGHS dispensaries have enough stock of medicines : minister
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) The Government today told the Lok Sabha that adequate quantity of medicines were available in most of the CGHS dispensaries to meet day-to-day requirements of the beneficiaries.
Union Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi said in a written answer that medicines, which were not available in dispensaries and prescribed by a specialist, are procured through authorised local chemists attached to individual dispensary.
The urgently required medicines are also procured by the beneficiaries from the authorised local chemists without any payment, on the basis of authority slips issued by the CMO in charge of the dispensary concerned.
In case there was no local chemists attached to the dispensary, then beneficiaries are allowed to purchase medicines from the open market. The expenditure incurred by the pensioner beneficiary was reimbursed by the CGHS and in case of serving employees the same is reimbursed by the Department concerned, the Minister said.
