Budget session of Pondy Assembly begins on July 27

Pondicherry, July 26: The budget session of the Pondicherry Assembly will begin here tomorrow with the customary address by Lt Governor Mukut Mithi.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the annual budget 2006-07 at 0930 hrs on July 31.

The session is expected to last for 21 days.

The opposition parties are likely to rake up issues like admission to private medical colleges, issuance of red colour ration cards to people below poverty line, among other things.

The minority Congress government with ten members, is supported by seven DMK, two PMK, one CPI and 3 Independent members in the 30-member House.

The government whip and parliamentary secretary to the Chief Minister are yet to be appointed.
