Breach of Privilege notice against Congress legislators in MP
Bhopal, July 26 (UNI) Four BJP MLAs today gave a breach of privilege notice against about a dozen Congress legislators for allegedly raising a matter, which cannot be discussed inside the House.
BJP legislator Lal Singh Arya said a notice was given to the secretariat against Mr Ramniwas Rawat, Dr Govind Singh, Mr Ajay Singh, Mr Sajjan Singh Verma, Mr Ghanshyam Singh and Mr Antar Singh Darbar (all Congress) besides other Congress members under rules 164 and 165 of the Advisory.
Besides Mr Arya, BJP MLAs Rajendra Shukla, Dhyanendra Singh and Sudha Jain gave the notice.
Mr Arya said the matter of a petition related to anti-defection law could not be raised within the House, as judicial powers conferred upon the Speaker by the Constitution could not be challenged in the house.
Despite this, some members raised the matter for the second day in succession today and shouted slogans in unparliamentary language in the well of the house.
The secretariat confirmed receiving the notice, which would be examined. If deemed fit, it would be referred to privilege committee after the Speaker's permission.
