BLFM surrender fake, says Mizoram police
Aizawl, July 26: Mizoram Police special branch said the report of 116 Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram (BLFM) activists surrendering in Tripura was fabricated.
A source from the special branch today said while trying to confirm this from the Tripura police and the Assam Rifles posted there, the Mizoram police found that no surrender had taken place.
Earlier, when the BLFM signed an understanding with the government of Mizoram in 2005, the BLFM, a splinter group of the BNLF, had wanted no part of the agreement and although the same relief package was offered to them, they chose to continue fighting the state government.
Reports reaching here from Kanchanpur in Tripura where the Bru refugee camps are located had said youths were being lured to join the BLFM by unscrupulous persons with promises of getting relief packages that would include Rs 80,000 and six months free rations for each surrendered.
