Asom Assembly's budget session concludes, House sine die

Guwahati, Jul 26 (UNI) The budget session of Asom Assembly concluded today, in which a total of eight bills have been passed.

The nine-day session began with the placing of the annual budget of the state for 2006-07 by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, on July 10. Eight days were devoted to government business while a day to private business.

The session witnessed a single adjournment motion.

As many as 741 oral questions were put to the government in the House of 126 legislators, of which 177 were answered. Altogether 373 written questions were submitted, of which replies were given to 246.

Of the 23 notices that were brought in, five were discussed.

The session saw 14 zero hour notices and 68 short notices.

The Assembly was adjourned sine die by the Speaker today.
