Asom Assembly passes seven Bills

Guwahati, Jul 26 (UNI) The Asom Assembly passed seven Bills on the concluding day of the budget session today while it had to withdraw one due to technical problem pointed out by Opposition AGP.

The Bills included The Asom tax on luxuries (Hotels and Lodging Houses) (Amendment) Bill, 2006, The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2006, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2006, The Guwahati Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control and Prevention) Bill, 2006, Asom Apartments (Construction and Transfer of Ownership) Bill, 2006, The Asom Health Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2006 and The Asom State Legislature Members (Removal of Disqualifications) (Amendment) Bill, 2006.

However, the ruling party had to postpone the Guwahati Prevention of Defacement of Property Bill for the next session after two AGP members pointed out that the objective and summary of the Bill was not proper.

After brief discussions in the House, five Bills were passed on voice votes while the Opposition walked out when the Office of Profit and The Asom Apartments (Construction and Transfer of Ownership) Bill were passed.
