ADB provides Rs 25 cr for Srinagar road
Srinagar, July 26: Under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding, a mega project for Pantha Chowk-Zewan road involving a cost of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned, an official spokesman said.
The project was sanctioned two days after 40 persons were injured when police fired in the air and burst teargas shells to disperse thousands of demonstrators demanding immediate repair of road.
The project envisages improvement, macadamization and upgradation of the 18-km road length connecting several areas in the suburbs of the summer capital.
He said the mega road project has been approved to ensure better traffic regulation and improve road and transport facilities for the people.
He assured that work on this important road project would start soon.
