AP CM reviews power sector performance

Hyderabad, July 26 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today decided to constitue a committee with senior officials from Finance, State Transmission Coporation(TRANSCO) and Non-conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh(NCEDCAP) to fix tariff for purchase of power generated by renewable power projects.

Reivewing the performance of power utilities along with State Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbeer, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy directed the GENCO to prepare an action plan within a week for power generation as part of Polavaram, Pulichintala Dn Dummagudem projects.

GENCO Managing Director Ajay Kalam informed that 6153 MW would be added through the projects, namely, Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project(TPP) Stage II(2 x 210 MW), Jurala(6 x 39 MW) Vijayawada Therma Power Station Stage-IV (500 MW), Kakatiya TPP 500 MW, Kothagudem TPS Stage VI 500 MW, Nagarjunasagar Tail Pond Dam 50 MW, Pochampad HES Unit-4(9MSW), Krishnapatnam TPP 1600 MW, Combined Cycle Gas-based Project near Karimnagar (2100 MW) and Lower Jurala HEP 240 MW.

Dr Reddy said the GENCO had generated 9137 MU of energy during this fiscal so far and achieved 90.8 per cent Plant Load Factor in thermal units, according to an official release.

The Chief Minister directed the NEDCAP to take up programmes to popularise energy saving devices in a big way.
