Anti-naxals squad destroys Naxalite camp in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, July 26 (UNI) Special Anti-Naxalites Operation (SANO) sleuths today destroyed a naxal camp in the thick forest between Lawari to Kotaldoh in Gadchiroli district, police sources said.

The sources said acting on a tip-off that naxalites had erected the camp between Lawari and Kotaldoh, a team of SANO sleuths undertook an operation. During the operation, there was an encounter between naxals and the SANO jawans. The latter SANO team destroyed the naxal camp after the naxalites fled in the thick forest with their injured colleagues.

The police have recovered 12 country-made pistols, four large plastic tents, 10 rifles and other explosive materials from the camp's premises.

SANO has undertaken a special drive to foil the destructive activities by the naxalites during 'Shaid Week' declared by them from July 28 in Gadchiroli district, they added.
