Andhra MPs seek additional kerosene for state
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) A delegation of Andhra Pradesh MPs today urged Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora to provide an additional monthly kerosene allocation of 1.65 crore litres for distribution through the Public Distribution System.
The delegation including Union Ministers Jairam Ramesh, Purandhareshwari and A Narendra submitted a memorandum alongwith state Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's letter which said the per capital allocation of kerosene in the state was 8.16 litres a year as against the national average of 10.68 litres.
The Chief Minister in his letter, pointed out the Centre had reduced the kerosene allocation to the state on the ground that additional LPG connections were sanctioned to BPL families.
However poor beneficiaries were unable to afford full consumption of LPG for their domestic requirements and it was evident from the fact that average monthly per capita consumption of these beneficiaries was just two kilos as against the normal consumption of 10 K G per head.
The MPs in the delegation included Dr Ravi Mallu, Mr D Vittal Rao, the convenor of Congress MPs from the state.
