After MCD polls, BJP demands resignation of Sheila
New Delhi, July 26 (UNI) After tasting victory in the Subhash Nagar Municipal Ward bye-election, Delhi BJP today demanded the resignation of the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress government in the capital, saying it has no moral right to continue in power.
Delhi Pradesh BJP leaders also demanded the resignation of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ram Babu Sharma, saying the election result was people's mandate against the failure of the state government as well as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
Stung by the defeat, the Congress government was planning to postpone the MCD polls due early next year, Delhi Pradesh BJP President Harsh Vardhan told reporters.
However, we would not let this happen at any cost, he said.
Delhi BJP MP V K Malhotra, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi, Leader of Opposition in MCD Subhash Arya, MLA H S Balli and newly-elected Councillor from Subhash Nagar Meera Kanwaria, besides Dr Harsh Vardhan were present at the occasion.
