4,049 cases pending with Goa Admn Tribunal

Panaji, July 26 (UNI) The Goa Administrative Tribunal has disposed-off 857 cases since last two years while 4,049 cases are pending, State Law Minister Dayanand Narvekar told the Legislative Assembly today.

He said the Government was thinking of opening another bench of the tribunal for South Goa shortly, to clear pending cases faster.

Presently, it is in North Goa.

Replying to a postponed starred question of Francis d'Souza (BJP), Mr Narvekar told the House that the pendency became mounting with more provisions included in the purview of the tribunal for consideration.

The Minister assured to take into consideration Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar's suggestion to remove certain cases from the purview of the tribunal's jurisdiction, after studying Acts which should be brought out of its purview.
