11 police personnel killed in bus-truck collision in Haryana

Narnaul, July 26 (UNI) Eleven personnel of Haryana Armed Police were killed and eight others seriously injured when a mini bus carrying them collided head on with a truck on the Narnaul-Singhana Road near Raghunath Pura in Mahendergarh district today.

Their bodies have been recovered, police sources said. The injured were admitted to Pt B D S Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak. District authorities and police immediately rushed to the spot and launched reseuc work.

The police personnel were on their way back from firing range at Raghunath Pura to the headquarters of Haryana Armed Police at Madhuban in Karnal district when the mishap occurred.

In all, there were 21 police personnel travelling in the mini bus and were under training as Assistant Sub Inspectors.

The driver of the ill-fated bus, Chander Bhan, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Angrej Singh received minor injuries in the accident and were discharged after the first aid.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed shock and grief over the death of police personnel and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved families and wished the injured speedy recovery.

The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs three lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured along with free treatment. Besides, the families of the deceased police personnel would get all benefits under the new ex-gratia policy, he said.
