Wipro BioMed ties up with CiPhergen

Bangalore, July 24 (UNI) Wipro BioMed, the healthcare division of Wipro, has forged an alliance with CiPhergen Biosystems Inc for marketing ProteinChip Systems and solutions.

The alliance empowered Wipro Biomed to market Ciphergen systems and solutions products in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, the company said in a release here today.

Sophisticated automated technologies such as Ciphergen ProteinChip Technology had redefined the process of drug discovery as it could identify and prioritise drug targets based on their ability to corroborate a multitude of gene expressions in Parallel.

Wipro BioMed Vice President Varsha Anand said, in the release, the alliance had a huge potential in India as most drug targets were proteins. Among many current trends impacting healthcare, Biomarker research was expected to bring pharmaceutical and diagnostic sectors closer together. Areas of Diabetes, Cancer, HIV and Lipid disorders were attracting more investments in research, he added00.

He said the Indian healthcare industries, especially pharmaceutical industry and clinical diagnostics industry, were expected to witness a paradigm shift in developing and marketing new products over the next ten years.
