Wife of PDP leader surrenders before court, granted bail
Coimbatore, July 24 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to Soofia Maudhani, wife of People's Democratic Party (PDP) founder leader Abdul Nasser Maudhani.
The Third Judicial Magistrate Ms Blora, before whom Soofia surrendered today after four years, granted bail to her after accepting two sureties.
Court sources said prison authorities had filed a case against Soofia in 2002 after they seized a cell phone from her when she visited the jail to meet her husband Abdul Nasser Maudhani and also preventing government officials from discharging their duties.
The City Race Course police, who also filed a case against her were searching Soofia to arrest her for the past four years.
After being in hiding for the past four years, Soofia surrendered before the judge today and filed a bail application.
After hearing the case, the judge granted bail to her by accepting two sureties.
The PDP leader Abdul Nasser Maudhani, presently incarcerated in Central Prison here, was arresed in connection with the serial bomb blasts case in the city in 1998, in which 50 people were killed and more than 250 persons injured.
