TN Assembly condemns Mumbai blasts

Chennai, July 24 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly today condemned the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai and urged the Central and state governments to identify and destroy the destructive forces responsible for the gruesome act.

Soon after the House met this morning, Speaker R Avudaiyappan read out a condolence motion which was unanimoulsy passed by voice vote.

Expressing shock and grief over the serial bomb blasts which claimed more than 190 lives and injured more than 700 people, the House said people should come together to fight evil forces in order to reinforce national integration and sovereignty.

The House expressed condolences to the bereaved families and to the injured people and a two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the blast victims.

The House passed another condolence motion on the loss of hundreds of lives in the recent tsunami attack in Indonesia.

Mr Avudaiyappan also made obituary references to six former members of the House.
