TCS bags multi million dollar order from a Saudi Arabian firm

Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has bagged an order worth 33 million US dollars from a Saudi Arabian telecom firm.

The company's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director S Ramadorai here today said that the deal was signed yesterday.

Talking to the mediapersons TCS signing of share holder promoted agreement (SPA) to establish software JV with Chinese firms, he said that the deal has been signed for both wireless and wired line services of Saudi Arabia.

''As per the deal we'll have to deliver within 18 months, informed Mr Ramadorai. We do normally business worth 50 million US dollars in the Middle East and this deal will help make our presence stronger in that region,'' he added.

Coming to the Chinese initiative of his company, Mr Ramadorai said that at present 490 people have been employed by his firm in its Chinese operations, which would be strengthened up to 5,000 within next four years. He assured that nearly 90 per cent of the staff of his firm in its Chinese operations would comprise Chinese nationals. Even the CEO of the Chinese operations is Jonathan Lam, who was working in the USA has been recently shifted back to China.

Mr Ramadorai further informed that the Asia Pacific director of the company, Girija Pande, would act as vice chairman of the Chinese operations of the company. TCS would formally apply to get a business licence for the deal in Hong Kong tomorrow, he added.
