State govt trains 50 mentally ill children

Guwahati, Jul 24 (UNI) Altogether 50 mentally retracted children were treated and trained at Mano Vikash Kendra situated in Guwahati at present, state Social Welfare Minister Ajanta Neog informed the state assembly today.

She said 11 trained supervisors were taking care of the children at the institute while the funds were being provided by the Centre, state social welfare department, Lions Club and Rotary Club jointly.

The minister added that the state government has at present no plans to include more such institutes for the mentally disturbed children. However, it would forward proposals received from others to the Centre for providing financial assistance.
