SP should not have nominated Bachchan again, says Shukla

New Delhi, July 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress leader whose petition led to the disqualification of Jaya Bachchan from the Rajya Sabha on the office of profit issue today accused the Samajwadi Party of having ''scant regard'' for the Constitution.

AICC member Madan Mohan Shukla said the Samajwadi Party should not have nominated Ms Bachchan again to the Rajya Sabha after she was disqualified from the Upper House.

''The Samajwadi Party has scant regard for the Constitution and ethics,'' said Mr Shukla.

Ms Bachchan today took oath in the Rajya Sabha following her election.

Mr Shukla had petitioned President APJ Abdul Kalam against Ms Bachchan saying she had held an office of profit when she was chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
