Shatrughan withdraws five-star hotel proposal
Patna, July 24 (UNI) Cinestar-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha has withdrawn his proposal to construct a five-star hotel in the state capital, citing 'controversies' surrounding some of the recent government decisions.
The state government drew a lot of flak from the Opposition, which charged the Mr Sinha of selling plots of the land to another Bollywoodman Prakash Jha at throwaway prices in view of Mr Jha's proximity to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a relationship which apparently firmed up after the filmaker of 'Apharan' and other real life storytellers campaigned for the NDA during the last assembly election.
Official sources said here today that Mr Sinha, in a letter to state industry secretary yesterday, said that he was opting out of the hotel project due to certain controversies arising out of some of the government decisions recently.
''In the light of the controversies, I wish to withdraw my five star hotel project and keep my integrity and image intact,'' he summed up.
The copy of the letter had been also sent to Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, stating that he did not wish to be ''seen as taking any personal favour from the government.'' UNI DH JYN PA ND2152
