Seven arrested for smuggling rectified spirit

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, July 24 (UNI) Police have seized rectified spirit worth Rs eight lakh during a drive to check smuggling of illicit liquor at Kammavarpalayam near here and arrested seven persons bottleleggers, including an illicit liquor seller.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a check on Saturday and found a lorry transporting rectified spirit in plastic cans.

The lorry was impounded, police added.
