Sensex opens in red over strong selling pressure
Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) The BSE sensitive index today opened in the red by 23 points on strong selling pressure and was also inspired by weak global bourses.
The sensex today opened at 10,042.47 points compared to the previous close of 10,086. It is currently trading at 10,062.09.
All the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the red, except Banking sector which was up more than three per cent, IT sector up by 0.02 per cent and Teck sector by 0.29 per cent.
Major loses on the index were- Hindalco, Bajaj Auto, Grasim, Cipla, NTPC, Tata Steel, ITC, ACC, Ranbaxy and Reliance Energy all down between 1.66 to 3.14 per cent.
Besides the gainers were- ICICI, HDFC, Satyam, SBI, Reliance Communications, Reddy's Lab, TCSm ONGC and Wipro all up between 0.15 per cent to 5.83 per cent.
