Sensex gains 76 pts in intra-noon trade

Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) The BSE Sensex gained 76 points and overcame the earlier losses in the intra-noon trade as the banking and IT stocks performed well on the index.

The banking and IT stocks gained 4.34 and 1.04 per cent, respectively, and brought some semblance of decency after the Bombay Stock Index (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) touched a low of 9,805.35 points.

Major gainers in the noon trade were - ICICI, TCS, Satyam and ONGC, up betweeen 1.31 to 6.09 per cent.

Losers, on the other hand, were - Hindlaco, Cipla, Ranbaxy and Tata Steel, down between 1.20 to 2.51 per cent UNI VS GK NV1313
