Remain alert to foil any militant attack, JK authorities to forces
Srinagar, July 24 (UNI) Security forces were put on high alert after some unidentified people took away a car from Anantnag, where 250 kg of explosives were recovered from a hideout yesterday.
Official sources said the car was taken away from Ashmuqam on the Anantnag-Pahalgam base camp of the Amarnath pilgrimage route in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night.
An alert has been sounded in the valley, particularly in south Kashmir, after the vehicle was taken away.
The sources said all the field commanders have been directed to remain alert to foil any militant attempt to cause a car bomb blast to target security forces or Amarnath pilgrims.
Militants in the past had been using stolen cars to cause car bomb blasts in the valley.
The sources said militants had also used stolen cars in fidayeen attacks on security force camps.
Security forces yesterday arrested a militant and recovered 250 kg of explosives from a hideout in the same district.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was deployed in the city searching vehicles and frisking pedestrians at different places.
A CRPF official at Dalgate said they have orders to check all the vehicles entering the city from the outskrits. They were also checking the papers of the vehicles and frisking occupants.
