Kurukshetra, July 24 (UNI) The father of Prince, a five-year-old boy who was wedged 18 metres down a bore well for more than 50 hours, today expressed his gratitude to the Almighty and the armymen for successfullly carrying out the rescue mission.

''Ye to ji bus, bhagwan kee hi maya hai ki is bachche ko doosri jindagi mil gayi. Bhalaa ho un fauji bhaiyon ka jinki badaulat ye Prince aaj hamaare beech jinda hai'' ( Thank God, Prince is with us due to His blessings but it was all made possible by the armymen), said Ramchander after receiving an assistance of Rs two lakh from the Haryana administration.

Prince is recuperating in the LNJP Hospital here to get over the ordeal inside a deep hole for a submersible tubewell. He had been lying in a crouched position inside the 60-foot-deep, 16-inch diameter hole into which he had fallen on Friday evening while playing with his friends.

Prince had been playing near the irrigation shaft on Friday when he fell through an empty sack which shielded the entrance to the 60-foot hole. He plunged to the bottom of the well, which was just wide enough to take a child but too narrow for an adult.

The assistance amount will be spent on the medicare of the boy, entry to whose room has been restricted by the doctors to help him recover from the trauma.

Ramchander repeatedly expressed gratitude for the rescue team of the Indian Army and the villagers, saying they had brought back his son from the clutches of death yesterday evening after Herculean efforts.
