New Delhi, Jul 24: National Federation of Indian Women today launched a 17-day demonstration to press for their long-standing demand of implementing 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures.

Former National Commission for Women Chairperson Mohini Giri inaugurated the dharna at Jantar Mantar on the opening day of the Monsoon session.

Hundreds of women from the national capital and Rajasthan participated in a rally before launching the dharna.

If UPA government ignored the voice of women and failed to feel the pulse of people than it would have to regret in the near future.

It was high time that government took out the bill from cold storage and table it in Parliament, NFIW General Secratery Annie Raja said.

NIFW had been building pressure, sometimes on its own and sometimes along with other women's organisations, on this issue since 1995.
