New policy for women in MP:Chouhan
Bhopal, July 24 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said a new policy for women empowerment would be announced soon and women in leading roles in all sectors would be consulted before finalising the policy.
''For the new policy, anganbadi workers to women in IAS and IPS services would be consulted. Intensive dialogues would be held and their suggestions solicited,'' said Mr Chouhan, while releasing a book 'The Law of Two Child Norm' authored by Ms Nirmala Buch, the former Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and head of Mahila Chetna Manch at the Vidhan Sabha premises here today.
The book presents an analysis of the impact of two-child norm and its legal provisions in five states -- Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Orissa, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
It especially underlines leadership problems among women, dalits and backward communities due to the two-child norm, which debars persons from contesting panchayat elections on violation of the norm.
The book would prove a guideline for the researchers and development planners.
Mr Chouhan, Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur and Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi underlined Ms Buch's contribution in abolishing the two-child norm and hoped the book would be useful for research institutes and policy makers.
