Narcotics case against AP pharma co officials

Hyderabad, July 24 (UNI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against Hy-gro Chemicals Pharmatek Private Ltd Bollarum and arrested its Managing Director and Production Manager on the charges of illegal sale of synthetic narcotic substance Dextro Propoxyphene Hcl.

A DRI release here today said the drug was clandestinely cleared to a firm based at Delhi in the guise of 5-Amino Salicylic Acid (Tech) and was transported by air from Hyderabad Air Cargo Terminal.

Acting on a tip off from their counterparts here, the DRI at New Delhi intercepted and seized a consignment of 250 kg of Dextro Propoxyphene Hcl valued at Rs 7.5 lakh at the IGI Airport on Friday.

Besides 4,800 kg of Dextro Propoxyphene Hcl, valued at Rs 1.12 crore, was impounded at the company's factory here.

The arrested persons were produced before the Metropolitan Sessions Court here which remanded them to judicial custody for two weeks, it added.
