Nallamala Forest encounter fake says Varavara Rao

Hyderabad, July 24 (UNI) Revolutionary writer Varavara Rao today alleged that the Nallamala forest encounter was 'fake' and demanded that the bodies of eight naxals be brought here for conducting post-mortem.

There was no doubt that the Nallamala encounter was a fake, Mr Rao, one of the three emissaries of the CPI(Maoist), who participated in the peace talks with the state government told media here.

The police were carrying out killing of naxal leaders in succession. ''This is the third major offensive against Maoists in the last two months. Eleven of them were killed in another incident in Kadapa in May and eight in Mahbubnagar last month. These killings were planned by police in the wake of local bodies and gram panchayat polls,'' he alleged ''The onus of proving the Nallamala encounter as a real one lies on the police. For that, they should first register the encounter as a murder case and later prove that they had to open fire in self defence in a court of law,'' he pointed out.

Mr Rao said the post-mortem of the bodies should be conducted either in Osmania General Hospital or in Gandhi Hospital.
