NABARD to invest Rs 472 crore in Mizoram

Aizawl, Jul 24 (UNI) National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) has chalked out a blue-print to invest Rs 472 crore in various development activities, including agriculture and allied sectors, in Mizoram during 2006-2007 here.

The investment would cover the areas such as crop loan, minor irrigation, land development, farm mechanisation, horticulture, dairy development, inland fisheries and non-farm sectors across all the eight districts of the state, official statement issued here today stated.

Out of the total Rs 472 crore, NABARD would be investing Rs 62 crore in agricultural and allied activities, Rs 24.20 crore in non-farm sector, Rs 150 crore in other priority sectors and rest Rs 236.4 crore in total priority sector.

Other and total priority sectors includes small road transport operators, retail trade and business, professionals and self employed persons, education, housing loan, consumption loan and deposit loans.

In order to have a proper link between Self Help Groups (SHG) and NABARD, it had planned to form more SHGs in the state, where they would be credit linked involving bank loans.

With the view to encouraging rural industrilisation, NABARD also has decided to extend more support during the current year for promotional schemes for artisan guilds, ancillary units, skill development, mother units and common service centres in the state.

Apart from the main investment, Rs 90 crores also been earmarked under rural infrastructural development programme such as creating mini hydle projects (up to 10 MW), village knowledge centres, infrastructure for information technology in rural areas, drinking water and public health institutions in the state.
