Morrow quits Vodafone as European head
London, July 24 (UNI) Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin, has suffered a fresh blow after Bill Morrow, the head of the European division, quit the mobile group.
The announcement comes ahead of tomorrow's annual meeting where Vodafone is bracing itself for a potential investor revolt. It is expected that holders of more than 10 per cent of the shares, including Morley, Standard Life and Hermes, will oppose the re-election to the board of Mr Sarin and other Vodafone executives.
''I have a sufficient level of support from the shareholders and the board to continue running the company,'' he was quoted as saying to The Times.
To the best of my knowledge, all of the resolutions we have at the AGM will pass with strong votes, he added.
Mr Sarin denied any connection between Morrow's departure and recent boardroom problems.
We are sorry that Bill has had to make this decision so shortly after announcing our new organisational structure. He has made an outstanding contribution to the success of Vodafone over the last ten years and has taken on some of the most challenging roles in the group and has always delivered, he added.
