Mahasabha urges CM to give Yadava candidate chance for bypoll
Chennai, July 24 (UNI) Youth wing of the Tamil Nadu Yadhava Mahasabha has appealed DMK president and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to give a chance to Yadhava community candidate to contest the ensuing by-elections from the Madurai Central Assembly constituency, which fell vacant following the demise of minister Palanivel Rajan.
In a statement here today, Mahasabha state youth wing president P Pandiyamani said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the office-bearers meeting of the youth wing at Madurai yesterday.
Thanking Mr Karunanidhi for providing representation to the community in the cabinet, state planning commission and posting of two yadhavas as District Collectors, the meeting appealed Mr Karunanidhi to fulfill his assurance of bringing the yadhava community under the most backward list.
The meeting opined that since Madurai Central Assembly constituency consists 35 of per cent of yadhava community people, it would be appropriate that a person from the yadhava community be selected as a candidate to contest the ensuing by-elections from there, he added.
