Lebanon fighting may last a week - Israeli sources
JERUSALEM, July 24 (Reuters) Israel's army believes it has about a week to complete its campaign against Hizbollah before an international deal is reached to stop the fighting, Israeli security sources and Western diplomats said today.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice headed for the region on Monday, saying that a ceasefire was urgent as long as the right conditions are in place. The United States wants any agreement to remove the threat posed to Israel by Hizbollah guerrillas.
''The army understands that they have about a week to go,'' said one security source. Western diplomats said they understood there was a similar time frame for the offensive to continue.
