Lawyers strike continues for consecutive 27th day
Jammu, July 24 (UNI) The indefinite strike of lawyers, demanding transfer of sex scandal case to Jammu from Srinagar, continued for the consecutive 27th day today.
The lawyers, who started indefinite strike from June 28 against denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients, were absent from court proceedings.
The lawyers have been demanding the sex scandal case be tried in any court outside Srinagar. The protests hit work in the high court and other subordinate courts of the state.
While talking to UNI, Bar Associaltion of Jammu President Ved Raj Wazir said the strike would go on till the association's demand of transfer of cases for fair trial outside Srinagar was not fulfilled.
The association has already sent representations to Chief Justice of India, Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir high court, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary in this regard.
