Kupwara moving towards progress: Officials

Srinagar, July 24 (UNI) The frontier district of Kupwara, once the hub of militants, is now on way to progress as the Jammu and Kashmir government is spending Rs 1.24 crore under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), An official spokesman said today.

He said during the last fiscal year, Rs 24 lakh have been incurred on infrastructure development and other welfare schemes under the plan in the district. Out of which Rs 9 lakh were spent for setting up of various income generating units for the welfare of the tribal community. Besides, 70 students of the community were provided computer training and 14 students were imparted necessary training in various crafts.

The Handicrafts department imparted training to 60 girl students of the community while Animal Husbandry department established 66 units. Three other units were set up by Sheep Husbandry department.

In addition, 105 families benefitted from the schemes launched by Soil Conservation department.
