India says rich countries must address trade flaws

GENEVA, July 24 (Reuters) India's Trade Minister today said rich countries must correct imbalances in global trade and accused them of trampling on the interests of poor nations in the World Trade Organisation's floundering Doha round.

''I am disappointed that the development dimension of this round was trampled upon. While completion of the round is important, the content of the round is even more important,'' Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim said he was ''disappointed and concerned'' that last-ditch talks by major trade powers to save the round collapsed on Monday and said ''of course there is always a risk of some unravelling'' of the progress achieved in the negotiations to date.
