Hindustan Zinc bags FIMI environment award

New Delhi, July 24 (UNI) Hindustan Zinc today received the Gem Granite Environment Award , 2005-2006 of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) for integration of environmental concerns in it's mechanised open cast Rampura Agucha Mines.

''We are committed to conserving and augmenting the natural resources in and around our areas of operations across India,'' said Hindusthan Zinc CEO M S Mehta.

The FIMI environmental awards are conferred to the mines judged best for their efforts to promote integration of environmental concerns in their mining plans. The basis for selection of mines for participation is the marksheet given by the Indian Bureau of mines (IBM) in the environment week celebrations in each of the regions/zones.

Hindusthan Zinc Ltd has taken up various continuing social welfare measures for the local community like free fodder camps, supply of drinking water through pipelines and tankers, medical camps, animal husbandry and cattle camps, self employment trainings like sewing camps, vermiculture, formation of self-help groups at their Rampura Agucha Mine.
