Haryana launches Rs 425 crore water scheme for Mewat
Chandigarh, July 24 (UNI) The Haryana Government has launched a Rs 425 crore Rajiv Gandhi Rannywell Drinking Water Scheme for the Mewat district.
The scheme aims at providing adequate drinking water to the people of 503 villages of the district, said an official spokesman here today.
The scheme was being implemented in two phases. Under the first phase, population of 247 villages would be provided drinking water facility based on the tubewells while the second phase would cover 256 villages under the rannywell scheme.
The first phase would cost Rs 205.91 crore while the scheme based on tubewells would cost Rs 47.90 crore. Besides, Rs 158.01 crore would be spent on rannywell-based schemes.
The spokesman said in order to provide tubewell based drinking water, as many as 290 tubewells would be sunk in 247 villages.
He said in 107 villages subsidiary boosting stations were being set up for which 485 km long pipelines of different sizes would be laid.
