For trying to help Kashmiri illegally, Bihari woman lands in jail

Srinagar, July 24 (UNI) A Bihar woman landed in jail after she appeared in the Common Entrance Test (CET) in place of a Kashmiri girl in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources said the examination staff at Government college for women at Nawakadal in the downtown got suspicious when they saw a girl with non-Kashmiri looks appearing in the CET for medical stream.

However, after being questioned, she said her name was Ruby Kumari, a resident of Bihar, and she was appearing in the examination in place of a Kashmiri girl Sameena Shamas, a resident of Anantnag.

Police later arrested the woman from Bihar after a case of impersonation was registered against her in police station Safa Kadal.

However, she was later shifted to women's police station at Rambagh.

This was for the first time that a non-Kashmiri had appeared in the examination for any Kashmiri student. However, more than a dozen persons were arrested in the past for appearing in the examinations for their relatives or friends in the valley.
