Death toil in Mumbai rain related diseases rises to 75

Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) Six more deaths were reported from various civic hospitals during the past 24 hours in the city in monsoon related diseases taking the number of total deaths to 75.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said here today that three people died of suspected leptospirosis and two of fever at KEM hospital while one due to Malaria at Nair Hospital.

Of the deceased two were resident of Wadala in southcentral Mumbai and one each from Jogeshwari, Opera House, Dharavi and Malad areas.

During the last 24 hours, private hospitals have reported one case each of suspected leptospirosis and dengue from Dadar and Sion-Koliwada area respectively.

Medical teams from the Municipal medical colleges and public health department have been specially constituted with doctors and paramedios alongwith the required diagnostic equipment and adequate stock of medicines, they stated.

In all, 233 persons, affected by various diseases, were admitted to hospitals in the city during the last 24 hours, they added.
