CM speaks to Arjun Singh on text book burning issue

Imphal, Jul 24: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh raised the issue of burning of Manipur board text books in some Naga-dominated districts with Human Resource Development minister Arjun Singh.

The Chief Minister said there was a report in a national daily regarding the Union minister's statement related to the textbooks issue. Mr Ibobi said the Union minister was well informed about the matter but and the Union minister's statement was misquoted in the media.

The Chief Minister appealed to remain calm and stated that the Centre had not given the nod to introduce books prescribed by Nagaland board in Manipur.

Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh had reportedly assured a delegation that text books of Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) will be allowed in Manipur.
