CII and NMCC working together for sustainable growth
New Delhi, July 24 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is actively engaged with the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) for the implementation of the National Manufacturing Strategy to achieve 12 per cent growth targets with healthier GDP from manufacturing.
''The government is monitoring the roll out of the strategy through a National Co-ordination Council. Tying in with this strategy is our mission on innovation in manufacturing to catalyse the increased targets for growth,'' the Chamber said today.
It is recognised that a lot of 'breakthrough' and 'innovative' mechanisms would be required for spurring the growth at the firm and industry sector levels. An enabler for this is a close and focused co-ordination with the reform process in government, it added.
The CII has also initiated a number of programmes along with national and international leaders. One such initiative being launched by CII is the 'Support to the Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing Programme'.
The programme to be launched next year is being envisioned by renowned professor of quality Prof Shoji Shiba who proposed this programme to the NMCC in April 2006.
NMCC Chairman V Krishnamurthy, and the Ambassador of Japan to India, Mr Enoki, are actively supporting this programme.
