Bangalore, July 24 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) in Karnataka today submitted a memorandum to the Karnataka Governor to dismiss the over five-monthh-old JD (S)-BJP coalition government in the wake of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy facing bribery charges.

In its memorandum, the CPI said it was the first time in the history of the State Legislature, a Chief Minister was facing a bribery charge of this magnitude. Hence the Chief Minister and other tainted ministers should immediately resign and face a probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the allegation made by suspended BJP legislator C Janardhan Reddy.

Mr Reddy had recently alleged that Mr Kumaraswamy and Forest Minister C Chennigappa had received a bribe of Rs 150 crore from the mining lobby in Bellary district.

The memorandum also urged the Governor to prevail upon the government to stop all illegal mining activities in the state.

A CPI delegation, led by its State Secertary Siddanagouda Patil, met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan.
