Advocate moves K'taka HC seeking protection to life, property

Bangalore, July 24 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today ordered issuance of notices to the City Police Commissioner and jurisdictional police authorities on an appeal filed by a city-based advocate seeking protection to his life and property from a local corporator who had trespassed into his site and installed a statue of late thespian Rajkumar.

The appellant, B V Omprakash, said he owned a BDA-approved site in Radhakrishna Layout in BSK IInd stage. He had also constructed a building with the licence and plan approved by the BDA. But the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) had interfered and unauthorisedly demolished the building, inspite of the status quo order issued by the court. A contempt petition was pending.

He said meanwhile, the Corporator, colluding with the BMP officials and localites, had on June 12 trespassed into his property and installed the statue of Dr Rajkumar and constructed a small shed over it. Despite filing a complaint, the police had failed to take any action to protect the property, he argued.

After hearing his petition, the Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Jospeph and Mr Justice D V Shylendrakumar, ordered the notices.
