Pondicherry, July 24: Pattali Makkal Katchi founder-leader Dr S Ramdoss today demanded that the territorial administration adopt a unanimous resolution to provide 27 per cent reservation to other backward classes on July 27, the opening day of the budget session and forward it to the Centre for approval.

Addressing a press conference here, he said government is ''cheating'' under the pretext of minority institutions and it could be resolved only if the 'minorities' were defined by the Parliament.

Referring to admissions in professional colleges in the Union Territory, Dr Ramdoss said he was not satisfied with the present allocation obtained by the government.

The territorial administration should obtain 85 per cent seats in all private professional colleges by promulgating an ordinance and enact a legislation in this regard as was done by the Kerala government, he said.

He said the PMK demanded that education should be bought under the state list from the purview of the Central list.

Urging the administration to promulgate an ordinance to ban advertisements in public places, he said, during the elections when the model code of conduct was in force, there was not even a single poster or banner. This should be followed during ordinary days also to protect the separate culture and identity of the Union territory.

Dr Ramdoss said the Left parties had suggested for the formation of a Third front to fight the common issues and not a Third front in connection with any elections.

He informed the press that though it was agreed to give a nominated member to the PMK in the Territorial Assembly, it was not known when it would be given.
