Hubli, July 24 (UNI) Akhil Bharat Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today appealed to the Karnataka Government not to implement its new admission policy for post graduate courses from this academic year.

Addressing a press conference here, ABVP State Secretary Prabhudev Kappgal said his organisation would oppose the implementation of the admission policy passed by the Inter University Board (IUB), unless the issue was discussed in detail with education experts, teachers and students organisations.

The government had decided to implement it in Mysore and Gulbarga universities, when other universities in the state were yet to announce last year's results.

Mr Kappgal said as per new policy, local students would be losing 40 per cent of the seats of their respective universities.

It was mandatory for all universities in the state to admit 50 per cent local students, 40 per cent from other universities and 10 per cent from other states.
